Derina Johnson
Derina Johnson joins the CONSEED team after recently completing her PhD at Trinity College Dublin's School of Social Work and Social Policy where she explored the lived experience of young migrants and refugees growing up in legal and social marginalisation on the Thailand-Myanmar border.

Prior to her PhD, Derina worked as field director of a mental health non-government organisation on the Thailand-Myanmar border where she lived for three years. A trained play therapist and psychotherapist, Derina ran a successful play therapy business in Dublin before her move abroad.

Derina also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours - Psychology) from University College Dublin, and a
Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music
in Performance (Singing).

In addition to her work with CONSEED, Derina acts as Research Coordinator of the Children's Research Network - under the oversight of the Trinity Research in Childhood Centre - bringing together wide range of academics, practitioners and policy makers with an interest in research on child and family issues across the island of Ireland.
